Autumn hikes near Athens: 6 routes for November

The Pezoparea team · Updated · 4 min read

In November the most convenient hikes near Athens are fir-covered Parnitha, Gerania above the Corinthian Gulf, Kithaironas, Vouraikos gorge, Lavreotiki and the island of Kea. All are day trips, easy or moderate, and clubs often run them by coach. For Vouraikos, ask first about the rack railway, which is closed.

In November there is none of the summer heat, and snow hasn't yet reached the lower mountains of Attica. The routes below are within about two hours of Athens and are often run by clubs and companies. Days are short, though, so start early and check when it gets dark.
